About Erin
I’ve been a practicing bankruptcy lawyer for over 27 years. I spent several years working for a large law firm that represented creditors in bankruptcy cases, but I wanted to represent families and small businesses instead. So, about 9 years ago I left and started this firm. Since then, my practice has thrived; The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys declared me Member of the Month for March 2009.
When I first started my own practice as a Waco bankruptcy lawyer, my office was located in a professional building at 23rd and Austin Avenue in Waco. Recently, though, I learned that a developer wanted to tear down the building to make room for town homes.
As luck would have it, a beautiful historic home just four blocks away was going into foreclosure at the same time. It was built in 1905, and in the 1940s it served as the Sears Building – if you ordered from the Sears catalog, you picked up your merchandise here at 1902 Austin Avenue. In fact, the hitching post where visitors once tied their horses is still present, as is the original carriage house!
The home was in terrible shape – no floors, no toilets, no air conditioning… and all of the original woodwork had been painted white. My husband and I, with help from several clients, spent our weekends renovating the home. Though it’s still a “work in progress”, I’m happy to say that we’ve moved in, and that the law practice is up and running at our new location!
I am also a Killeen bankruptcy lawyer; I opened my Killeen office about three years ago. Killeen is the home of Ft. Hood, the largest military installation in the U.S. Recently, the town lost its two most experienced bankruptcy lawyers. Since I am from a military family (my father, father-in-law, and husband all served), I was more than happy to step in to serve our country’s soldiers and their families.
My husband and I are the proud parents of three children. Our youngest, Rachel, has Down Syndrome, epilepsy, and severe asthma – although she is only 10 years old, she has been hospitalized 49 times. Because of Rachel’s experience, I understand the huge impact that illness and disability can have on a family’s finances. If you need a Waco bankruptcy lawyer or a Killeen bankruptcy lawyer who will approach your situation with understanding and compassion, give me a call – I’ll be happy to help!
