I have been practicing exclusively bankruptcy law in Texas for almost 40 years. Unlike most other law firms, my firm is exclusively dedicated to helping individuals and small businesses find a way out of their financial difficulties through the use of our nation's bankruptcy laws. Also, unlike most other law firms, my practice is completely Atouch-free, from your first meeting to bankruptcy discharge, thus making your bankruptcy filing very safe during this global pandemic. The decision to file bankruptcy is one of the most difficult decisions an individual can make. My clients prepare to meet us scared, nervous, and embarrassed. After we meet with them, they are relieved that their financial problems have been solved in a legal, moral, and ethical manner.
I served as President and Treasurer of the Western District of Texas Bankruptcy Bar Association. I served as the President of the Central Texas Bankruptcy Bar Association for eight years. I also served as the State Chair for the Western District of Texas for the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys for over a decade. I teach other attorneys advanced bankruptcy law matters several times each year at national, international, state, and local bar association continuing education seminars. I taught a course entitled ADebtors= Rights and Creditors= Remedies@ as an adjunct law professor at Baylor Law School for over ten years.
I attended Texas Tech Law School and graduated, with honors, in 1983. While I was in law school, I served as an Editor for the Texas Tech Law Review and clerked for the Lubbock Bankruptcy Judge. I have a master's Degree in Public Administration from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. I am originally from Dallas, Texas. My husband and I moved to Central Texas in1993. We absolutely love Central Texas!
My husband and I have three children. My husband recently retired from a 40-year career in banking to manage our short-term rental business. Our oldest son, Paul, is an architect in training at an architectural firm in Waco. Our middle child, Billy, is a graduate student at North Texas studying journalism. Our youngest child, Rachel, has Down Syndrome and epilepsy. She has been hospitalized over 60 times. Rachel has given me a new appreciation of what a financial strain illnesses and disabilities can have on a family. Our family is not perfect B we have had our problems and difficulties. However, I believe that those imperfections make me a better lawyer and counselor to my clients.
I am passionate about representing my clients and making sure that they receive the best representation possible. I am also passionate about studying bankruptcy law to make sure that I know all of the latest developments in this area of law, which is constantly changing. I have far exceeded the required number of continuing legal education hours for the past ten years for Texas attorneys, and the Texas Bar Association recently named me a Fellow in the College of the State Bar of Texas.
Let my experience, knowledge, and compassion help you and your family through whatever has happened in your life that makes you believe that bankruptcy is an option you should consider. I look forward to meeting you!
